Welcome to the Port Stanley Festival Theatre web site.
About 5 years ago, we unveiled our plans for our 'Expand the Experience' project, to renovate and expand our home in the historic building on 302 Bridge Street in Port Stanley. Thanks to the generous donations and efforts of many Theatre supporters, we have been able to make the vision to 'Expand the Experience' a reality, and finally we're ready to celebrate the completion of the work. We finished the renovation of the main auditorium - now renamed the Grace Auditorium - in time for the 2016 Summer Season, and this year, our patrons will be able to relax in the new Palmer Room, and enjoy the wonderful views of Port Stanley Harbour from the Pat and Ali Shakir Patio. A BIG thank-you to everyone involved in the project!
One of the Theatre Board's 5 key objectives continues to be to encourage the development of professional skills in theatre arts. We do this by bringing in professional up-and-coming actors, designers and technical staff to create these wonderful summer season performances.
But there are also many volunteers who give their time to make the Theatre work. You will meet some of them when you come to the Theatre - the front-of-house 'ushers' are all volunteers. All of us on the Theatre's Board of Directors are volunteers. The teams who did such a great job at raising the capital for the 'Expand the Experience' project are all volunteers.
Why do we do it? For some of us it's an opportunity to give back to the community after a successful career in another field. For others, it's a change from the duties of day-to-day priorities.
But one thing brings all of us together - we want to see Canadian theatre arts thrive and flourish here in Port Stanley.
